In 2016, Konta posted her first Top 10 season at No. 10. During the same year, she was voted the WTA’s Most Improved Player. Meanwhile, Wozniacki posted her ninth consecutive top 20 season, finishing at No. 19.
Konta is ranked No. 11 and Wozniacki is ranked No. 14 in WTA standings.
This is the second consecutive time in Miami two double-digit seeds will battle in the women’s final. In 2016, No. 13 Victoria Azarenka beat No. 15 Svetlana Kuznetsova.
Wozniacki’s record against top 20 opponents is 112-93. Konta is 20-14.
Konta holds 293 career wins and Wozniacki has 530 (includes the 2017 Miami Open).
With 25 titles, Wozniacki ranks fourth among active players. Konta holds just two.
Konta is 1-0 against her opponent in head-to-head play. Their lone contest was in January at the Australian Open (Konta won 6-3, 6-1).
In Miami, Konta is making just her second appearance with an 8-1 record at the tournament. Wozniacki is making her 10th appearance and her record is 27-9.
Both right-handed players, Wozniacki is age 26 and Konta is 25.
In 2017, Wozniacki holds a 23-6 record. Konta is 18-3.
Both competitors are making their first Miami finals run and both competitors are the first athletes from their respective countries to reach the finals (Wozniacki from Denmark and Konta from Britain).
Konta is the only finalist with a WTA Tour title this season. Her win came in Sydney over Agnieszka Radwanska.
Wozniacki has conceded 31 games in route to the final, which is the fewest in the tournament. Konta has conceded 46.
By reaching the finals, Wozniacki surpassed the $23 million mark in career earnings.
A finals appearance guarantees a return to the top 10 for Konta. Wozniacki must win the title to make the top 10.
The match takes place Saturday at 1 p.m.
