Andy Murray vs. Denis Istomin 6-3, 7-5. The World no.2 Andy Murray beat Denis Istomin 3-6, 5-7. Murray will be pleased to advance after a day dominated by high-profile exits and withdrawals. Nadal’s exit was the most notable, after retiring in the third set against Damir Dzumhur.

Serena Williams continues to reign the WTA after overcoming Zarina Diyas 7-5, 6-3. Defending champion Williams has won the title the last three years in a row and has won it a total of 8 times. The win comes as a milestone to Williams who now owns 750 career match wins across all levels.

The 12th seed Elina Svitolina played 23rd seed Caroline Wozniacki and won in a three-set match, 5-7, 6-4, 7-6(1). Last year, Svitolina advanced to the fourth round, but lost to Venus Williams.

Sam Querrey (USA) lost his match against Adrian Mannarino due to a point penalty. Sam exited the Miami Open with a surprising point violation when facing match point against Adrian Mannarino.

Timea Bacsinzky beats Ivanovic in two straight match wins, 7-5, 6-4. Thus far, Bacsinzky has beat Eugenie Bouchard and Margarita Gasparyan.

Two Americans went head to head in the men’s singles today. Tim Smyzcek beat his old roommate and fellow practice partner John Isner 2-6, 6-2, 6-7(5).

Jo- Wilfred Tsonga beat Santiago Giraldo in a two set win, 6-3, 6-1. Eyes have been on Tsonga after he made it to the quarter-finals at ATP Masters 1000 Indian Wells where he lost to World no. 1 Djokovic.
