Medvedev to begin title defense on Friday night with

Alcaraz set to start campaign on Saturday night at 7pm

The first matches of the star-studded weekend schedule for the Miami Open presented by Itaú have been revealed.

Friday’s day session in the stadium will feature South Florida native Coco Gauff, top-ranked American Taylor Fritz and Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, while Jessica Pegula will headline play on the Grandstand.

Gauff will lead off Friday’s session at noon against Argentine qualifier Nadia Podoroska. Pegula’s Grandstand matchup will be against Zhu Lin.

Friday evening’s stadium schedule will see the start of Daniil Medvedev’s title defense with the 2022 men’s champion Carlos Alcaraz taking to the court for his first match at 7p.m. Saturday.

Alcaraz, fresh off a title at Indian Wells, begins his Miami Open Saturday evening against the winner of a Thursday match between Aleksander Vukic and Roberto Carballes Baena.

Each evening, the following day’s complete order of play will be released.
