By: Christopher Menendez

Miami- American Bethanie Mattek-Sands and Czech Lucie Safarova, also known as ‘Bucie’, take the women’s doubles title in a match against Timea Babos and Yaroslava Shvedova, 6-3, 6-4.

Bethanie joins Victoria Azarenka in achieving an Indian Wells/ Miami double win after winning the doubles title at Indian Wells with CoCo Vandeweghe earlier this year.

‘Bucie’ was dominant from the start and won the match in straight sets. After the mat, Mattek-Sands thanked the fans for following women’s tennis and making it such a great sport. She also expressed her love for the Miami Open, “I’m excited to come back next year!”

Last year, the Mattek-Sands and Safarova partnership finished the year with two WTA titles and two Grand Slam titles. Look out for Mattek-Sands who put together a bid for a spot on the US Olympic team with CoCo Vandeweghe.
