El australiano de 20 años de edad Nick Kyrgios batalló cabeza a cabeza con el canadiense Milos Raonic y lo derrotó en dos sets seguidos, 6-4, 7-6 (4). Kyrgios jugó un partido sin miedo a pesar de tener apenas un título en su joven carrera. Luego de ver el partido de Monfils más temprano durante el día, no puede negarse que los atletas tienen un apasionado estilo parecido.

La semifinal femenina vio como la No.2 del mundo Angelique Kerber cayó derrotada ante Victoria Azarenka, 2-6, 5-7. Azarenka jugará contra Svetlana Kuznetsova y está tratando de ser la primera en ganar el elusive doblete Indian Wells-Miami desde 2005.
