11.10.2014

Joins Itaú and MasterCard on Impressive Roster of Global Brand Partners

LONDON, UNITED KINGDOM (November 10, 2014) – The Miami Open presented by Itaú announced today that Lacoste has signed on as an Official Partner of the event for 2015-2019. Lacoste is the third global brand to join the Miami Open’s roster of partners this year, which includes presenting sponsor Itaú, the Brazilian bank with a presence in 20 countries, and MasterCard, the event’s official credit card.

Lacoste will be the official and exclusive tennis and casual apparel and footwear outfitter of the event, and will dress the linesmen, lineswomen and the ball kids on court. Additionally, Lacoste will create a unique shopping experience at the Miami Open which will include two stand-alone retail shops offering customers both tennis apparel and Lacoste’s lifestyle line. This rich offering positions the Miami Open as the only tennis event outside of the Grand Slams to provide its fans with this type of exclusive shopping experience. The Miami Open and Lacoste will also create a co-branded collection that will be sold onsite at the tournament and in Lacoste boutiques starting in February 2015.

Lacoste’s investment in the Miami Open further enhances the retailer’s stronghold in Florida where it accounts for more than 20% of its business through 15 stores, including five boutiques in South Florida.

‘’We are thrilled to welcome Lacoste to the Miami Open family of partners enriching the overall experience of our fans. The Lacoste partnership marks the largest deal ever in this category at the Miami Open and we worked closely with our team in France to get it across the finish line, once again showing the power of IMG’s global sales force. Offering our guests the ultimate access to a luxury shopping experience with Lacoste onsite further positions our event as the premier entertainment platform in sport,’’ said Fernando Soler, Managing Director of IMG’s Tennis Division.

“Becoming an Official Partner of the Miami Open is part of Lacoste’s global strategy within the North America region and therefore will contribute to extending and reinforcing the presence of the brand in this region,” said Jose Luis Duran, CEO of Lacoste Holding.

“We are very happy Lacoste has come on board as the Miami Open’s official apparel sponsor,” said Adam Barrett, Miami Open Tournament Director. “The Miami Open, like Miami itself, is about energy, excitement, innovation and world-class experiences. Given Lacoste’s strong presence in Miami, having them as a partner enhances all of those values, and their presence on site will certainly elevate the shopping experience at the event to an even higher level.”

Located in one of the worlds most visited vacation destinations and featuring all the world’s top players, the Miami Open is regarded by many to be the most glamorous event on the ATP and WTA calendars. Now entering its 30th anniversary year, Miami Open’s international fan base, exotic yet metropolitan location, and on-site shopping, food and entertainment experience gives the tournament an energy and excitement that is uniquely Miami.

Each spring the Miami Open attracts more than 300,000 guests, including the biggest names in music, entertainment and sports, and is broadcast to 193 countries and territories around the world, giving its partners tremendous global exposure.
